Brrr…the idea of heading to the beach and jumping on a paddleboard in the middle of January sounds really cold…so here’s your new favorite Winter activity – SUP Yoga in a pool! My friend Carly happens to be one of the best yoga instructors in the PNW, and has a SUP Yoga series at the Snohomish Aquatic Center on select Friday nights! I couldn’t miss the opportunity to try it and share my experience with you. *Note: This was my 2nd experience with SUP so I’m still a newbie – therefore it’s totally beginner friendly!
The boards are specifically designed for Stand-Up Paddleboarding (SUP) so they are wide and stable enough to (carefully) stand and maneuver on.
The pool was empty, except for our class, which made for a peaceful practice. Carly led us through an hour of perfectly balanced yoga of strength and serenity.
The price just dropped to $27/class which includes yoga + paddleboard. This is a killer deal for SUP Yoga, which was one of the hottest workouts last year and is only getting more popular. The spots fill up fast so definitely contact the Snohomish Aquatics Center to find out their next class date and sign up ASAP!
I also recommend following Carly Hayden – Catalyst Yoga LLC on Facebook to see other classes/events she hosts. The paddleboards are provided by Hydrology Stand Up Paddle, so make sure to give them a Like, too!
…You may also recognize Carly from when I did Yogamosa at Bluewater Distilling! Feel free to check out that post HERE if cocktails after yoga is your thing (the answer is yes). ♥
If you are not local, I HIGHLY recommend contacting your local community pool and see if they offer a similar class. If they don’t – put in a request…it’s something everyone should try at least once (if not several times!).
Have you tried SUP Yoga? What was your experience?
Disclosure: Catalyst Yoga graciously provided me with a complimentary class to try and review. The opinions expressed here represent my own, which I take great pride in providing pure honesty…because I’m OBSESSED with sharing the Good!
