It’s the first week of winter break and I’ve had tons of questions on how I’m keeping my kids entertained!
Well…first of all, they have plenty to do at home and nothing beats a pack of crayons and a coloring book…but with that said, you know I love a good experience so of course we’ll be squeezing a handful in over the next few weeks (stay tuned!). But for you, my dear friends, I’m sharing one of the BEST things we did last summer…and it was local, in Kirkland, WA – High Tea at The Heathman Hotel.
If you want to get a little creative, while enjoying amazing food, this is it. Plus you’re likely to start a new tradition (I know we sure did!). As I write this, I’m planning our reservation this week.
Okay, so let me walk you through it…
You arrive at the Trellis Restaurant inside The Heathman Hotel. If you’re feeling a bit extra, opt for valet and dress a little fancy (not required, but highly encouraged…by me ♥). You are promptly seated and then offered your choice of black, green or herbal organic Rishi Tea.
My girls opted for Peppermint and I went for the the Turmeric Ginger.
The tea is delivered, and you have the option of adding cream and sugar (which was an obvious yes for the girls)…
Then the show starts…
If you’re craving something sweet, opt for a tier full of french macaroons, petit fours and hand rolled truffles. Something savory? Then you’ll favor the albacore crudo, baby beets and foraged mushroom crostinis. For those 21+ add bottomless mimosas to kick it up a notch. Everything your heart desires…right here.
If you have adventurous kids with eager tummies, this will be an experience they will never forget! And for those of you with picky eaters (but still want to enjoy High Tea), feel free to also order off the lunch menu (maybe grilled cheese with tomato soup?).
We only have so many years with our littles, a special afternoon here and there really does last a lifetime. And I loved sharing their first High Tea experience at The Heathman (which, by the way, is GORGEOUS). Adding it to my date night rolodex.
Cheers to delicious experiences!
