My littles ADORE the Fancy Nancy book collection. We got hooked when we bought a series at Costco last year, and now we have a beautiful medley of her glamorous stories. So when I discovered the Evergreen City Ballet was putting on a Fancy Nancy and the Mermaid Ballet performance, I knew we had to attend!
Here’s a synopsis of the story presented:
Nancy has her heart set on being the star. But when another ballerina wins the coveted part of the mermaid, Nancy is determined to make the most of her own role as a weeping willow—with lots of glamour, of course! Her dazzling costume and primo port de bras promise to make Nancy the most sensational willow tree ever to grace the stage. But if Nancy steals the show, will it be the best ballet it can be?
If you are a local Fancy Nancy fan, I highly recommend attending the performance!

Here’s the fun that will be had:
On Friday, March 11th at 5pm (before the performance), Neiman Marcus in Bellevue (WA) is hosting a soiree in support of the Evergreen City Ballet. The Opening Night Celebration includes food, drinks, a silent auction, raise the paddle, raffles and more!
P.S. There will be a Springfree Trampoline raffle! The winner receives a 10ft round Springfree Trampoline plus $200 towards $300 set up. Tickets are $50 and only 80 will be sold!
And for the littles – ECB and Adventure Kids Playcare will be offering a Backstage Bash for children whose parents are attending the Neiman Marcus event! Kids will eat dinner, dance with Fancy Nancy & have story time with Robin Preiss Glasser (Fancy Nancy Illustrator!). Kids (ages 3+) can be dropped off at The Theatre of Meydenbauer Center as early as 4:30pm.
After the party, we’ll walk over to the theatre and watch the performance with our littles!
Run time for Fancy Nancy and The Mermaid Ballet is approximately one hour and fifteen minutes including an intermission.
After the performance, some of the dancers come out into the lobby in costume. This is a perfect photo opportunity for little ones to pose with a real ballerina! So bring your cameras! There is no photography or videography during the show.
All proceeds benefit ECB’s outreach programs like Dance ALIVE! which you can read about here . We are also raising funds for a brand new program called Dance Beyond Boundaries. This program is being created for children with Autism and Down Syndrome to come to ECB and have a dance class with peers and specialized instruction. It is in its very beginning stages but we plan on starting the classes in September 2016 and Fancy Nancy illustrator Robin Preiss Glasser will speak more about it at the event. Funds raised also benefit our financial aid fund which supports dance students in need. – Evergreencityballet.org
