Conventional cotton is the world’s dirtiest crop.
Conventional cotton uses about 16% of the world’s insecticides and 7% of pesticides. In addition, the World Bank estimates that around 20% of industrial water pollution in the world comes from the treatment and dyeing of textiles. Not to mention the issues around forced labor, child labor, and factory collapses… it’s a dirty business (and we’re on a mission to change it).
To be honest, I hadn’t given much thought to wearing organic…I have a few pieces in my closet that I’ve acquired over the years, but really just liked the way they felt. I failed to realize how significant it really was…especially organic cotton.
When Moms Meet reached out to me on behalf of PACT Organic I was intrigued to learn more. I headed to their Instagram, as I always do with new brands to get a feel for their vibe and most of all, to see real people wearing/using the products. I loved the clean lines and how comfortable everything looked.
…then I received my order. Everything fit so incredibly well and is now officially the softest collection in my wardrobe. It’s good for my body and good for the earth.
Organic for the planet.
No toxic chemicals are used in the growing of organic cotton. It doesn’t damage the soil, has less impact on the air, and uses 71% less water and 62% less energy than conventional cotton. Organic certification in manufacturing requires dyes to meet biodegradability/eliminability standards, the proper treatment of water, and prohibits the use of toxic heavy metals.
In keeping with the theme of environmental consciousness, I just discovered Kiehl’s offers a Recycle & Be Rewarded program where you can exchange empty full size product bottles and receive rewards! You can find more details here. BTW the Ultra Facial Cream and Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado are amazing. Definitely give them a go this spring!
A few of my PACT Organic essentials are below…Pin it to your Style or Fitness board!
p.s. In this post I’m wearing the Brooks Women’s Chariot Heritage – this is their final launch before the collection is archived! More details coming soon – just know you need to order ASAP!
Cheers to wearing organic!
