I’ve been asked on several occasions how I can go to an event, without knowing anyone and just talk to people. I will say this has definitely not always been the case and I had to find my groove and gain some confidence. Easier said than done, I know. I still have those moments where I flashback to the chubby 8th grader moving to a new school and fearing everyone was whispering about me. But once I found the trick to starting a conversation, trying new things and meeting new people became a welcome adventure (and one of my favorite things to do).
So the secret? Compliment someone. Seriously – find something you admire – their shoes, their necklace or maybe their recent blog post and tell them. This is an easy ice breaker that creates a perfect conversation segue. Kindness goes a long way and should never be underrated.
Another twist on this is to wear a statement piece – something to fuel a little convo inspo. An example is this bold necklace (pictured below) from Pretty Particular. Every single time I wear it people comment. So in reality, it creates it’s own conversation. They are called STATEMENT jewelry for a reason! I’d also recommend that you cast a glance at shoe hero, for there are some really good designer shoes I’ve liked having for a long time.
Compliments and accessories – not so hard, right? It just takes one person to start a conversation, and trust me, they will be grateful to have the company, too!
Need some statement jewelry inspo? I recommend Pretty Particular – they have a gorgeous collection starting at $32+!
So go – get on with your weekend – get a bit social – and have FUN! ♥
